Game of Thrones Wine

game-of-thrones-wines-vintage-wine-estates-fwx-1024x1024While at the grocery store the other night on the eve of Episode 1 of the latest season (7) of Game of Thrones, I happened across a beautiful bottle of chardonnay with gold etching. This glimmering glamour caught my eye as I took in the class of wine which was contained within, but no sooner did it dawn the white wine origins did I happen to glimpse the most wonderful inscription: Game of Thrones.

Now, I am sure it is pretty obvious by now that I am a total fan girl when it comes to GOT, so it shouldn’t surprise you that I have been in search of these elusive bottles. I have looked at any number of locations, even considered purchasing it online, but something about shipped wine makes me feel like I might have a problem, so I patiently waited until one fated day that I might happen upon one of these ever coveted bottles.

And then, as if by fate as determined by the Old Gods and the New, there it was, sitting on a few unopened cases, ripe for the taking! Unfortunately, I did not find its sisters, Red Wine and Cabernet Sauvignon, but Chardonnay had never looked so beautiful. I happily skipped the entire way to the self-checkout lane and popped that cork right as Episode 1 began.

Now, the flavor. Per the website, enticing aromas of stone fruit and white blossoms lead to a rich, creamy palate of peaches, apricots, tangerine, Meyer lemon, baking spices and honey, balanced by mouth-watering acidity. A touch of oak on the lingering finish.

As most Chardonnays go, the citrus warmth hit my palate with ease. I prefer white wines, and this one absolutely delivered! As the array of fruits and blossom swirled within my mouth, the warmth of honey slithered down my throat and left me with sweet after tones. This glorious first sip christened the episode as the wonderful opening static and HBO logo light up the screen. It was the perfect way to bring in the new season, and I truly hope the Lord of Light will allow me to find another bottle of Game of Thrones wine soon!

Taking the night off.

I can’t remember the last time I had a free Saturday night. Usually I am busy with homework, housework or just coming in late from some event, but tonight, I am completely free. Mind you, there is a pile a of laundry that needs done, but tonight, I’m going to ignore it and gaadc79e9e2bd00cc69aa7463845aa1a5ive myself the night off.

We all need that every once in a while, a night to ourselves for our own pleasures/hobbies. Forgetting or not allowing time for yourself will suck the very life out of you if you let it. We have to remember to let ourselves off the hook every once in a while because even though there is never enough time in a day, there is always tomorrow.

Tonight, I’m off. I’m allowing myself a little me time which I’ll be using to write a bit, catch up on some reading, and maybe take a bubble bath! Oh, now we’re talking dirty! If only I had a glass of wine..

Movie Review: The Girl On The Train

Baby spent the night with her grandparents, so mommy and daddy had a pizza, movie, wine and beer night. I’m wine, he’s beer. Overall, a very healthy evening. (Back to that whole: Weight Loss or Pizza bit.) It’s been a while since we have been able to catch up on the latest cinema hits, so this may be a bit late, but I had to share my feelings on The Girl On The Train. This may start to read like a rant, so you have been warned.

girl-on-the-train-new-trailerIMdB: The Girl on the Train is the story of Rachel Watson’s life post-divorce. Every day, she takes the train in to work in New York, and every day the train passes by her old house. The house she lived in with her husband, who still lives there, with his new wife and child. As she attempts to not focus on her pain, she starts watching a couple who live a few houses down — Megan and Scott Hipwell. She creates a wonderful dream life for them in her head, about how they are a perfect happy family. And then one day, as the train passes, she sees something shocking, filling her with rage. The next day, she wakes up with a horrible hangover, various wounds and bruises, and no memory of the night before. She has only a feeling: something bad happened. Then come the TV reports: Megan Hipwell is missing. Rachel becomes invested in the case and trying to find out what happened to Megan, where she is, and what exactly she herself was up to that same night Megan went missing.
