This post will be a smorgasbord of quick topics. My muse seems to be lost somewhere in the world because I have definitely not felt its presence in a while. Maybe my muse is brought on by chocolate, and because of the diet I’m on and can’t have it, the muse has stayed away. Who knows.. I really hope that isn’t the case though. My love for chocolate has gone un-quenched while my work has been placed aside. I see the correlation, but I would hate to ruin all the progress I have achieved!
Speaking of achieved! This will be Week 6 beginning on Tuesday of said diet, and I have lost 11 pounds so far! My goal has been 20, so I am more than halfway there now! I am trying to talk my hubby into buying me an elliptical, so I can cancel my membership at the gym (the saving money pitch is my angle), but that hasn’t been gaining much ground. I also wanted a scale which I purchased today, and found out that I have also lost 3% on my BMI! I’ve been taking my measurements, too, and have lost almost 3 inches to date.
As you can see, this is not one of those fad diets where you eat nothing or doing a cleanse, quite the opposite in fact. This is the good old healthy meals, calorie counting, working out way. Sometimes, I swear I have eaten more than I ever did when I wasn’t on the diet per meal, but my calorie count on my nifty MyFitnessPal app tells me that I have either just barely passed my calorie intake by >10 calories, or I’m under by that. I never would have guessed that eating so few of calories could still be so much food!
Most recently though, I have been trying to incorporate going out to eat into my diet. I have certain criteria that has to be met in each meal like such and such ounce of meat, so many cups of veggies, fruit, starch, etc., so before I actually sit down at the restaurant, I consult my app by typing in the name of the establishment and try and find a lower calorie meal that meets said requirements. I’ve been to Nando’s Peri Peri, Smashburger, and BJ’s Brewhouse (can’t drink, but their food is still good), and have had great success. If I know they do not have part of what I need for the meal, I will either bring it with me, most notably my protein shake, or wait till I get home to fill the gap, but for the most part, it has been working out very well! Now, if only I could start working in a few alcoholic beverages, then I’d be ready, but until I hit that 20 mark, I’m not touching the stuff!
So almost 6 weeks and just over 11 pounds later, I am on my way to a happier, healthier me! Not to mention hubby has been doing really well with it, too! He eats pretty much exactly what I eat, just more and some junk intermittently, but he’s even becoming a healthier him! I do believe that this decision has been great for the both of us!
As another tid bit of information, we’ve been dying to go on vacation since we haven’t gone on one in three years or on our honeymoon yet, but just haven’t found anything in our price range. Anyone know of a cheap website or place to go? Preferably out of the country (an item on my bucket list!).
Last thought. I just watched Fight Club for the first time ever, and might I just say I have more questions after watching the whole thing than I did before I saw the ending. I won’t ruin it for you, but if you have read the book and seen the movie, would you recommend either? I am debating on if I would like to read the book, but the whole idea of trying to map out the ending when I already know the outcome will ruin it for me, I think.
Good movie, but it is such a mind game!
I lied… One more thought..
If you see my muse, please tell it to come see me! I need a little inspiration in my life.
